NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – Bond has been denied for two South Carolina teenagers accused of fatally shooting a good Samaritan who helped them pull an SUV out of a ditch.

News outlets report 19-year-old Michael Odell Anthony Dupree-Tyler and a 17-year-old male suspect, both of North Charleston, were in bond court Tuesday night on murder charges in 45-year-old Chadwick Garrett’s death.

An arrest affidavit states Garrett agreed to pull the suspects’ SUV out of the ditch for $20. Witnesses told police that when Garrett finished, he asked the suspects about the money at which point the 17-year-old suspect took out a gun, firing several shots, striking Garrett in the chest.

The affidavit says the teenager then got into the SUV while Dupree-Tyler drove.

Online jail records do not list attorneys for the suspects.
