Bomb threat closes 16th Street Mission BART station

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) — BART closed the 16th Street Mission station in San Francisco earlier this afternoon because a person was talking about explosives and

possibly blowing up a train, a BART police lieutenant said today.

BART officials said they closed the station at about 3:30 p.m. The station is located at the corner of 16th and Mission streets.

The station is now open as BART police investigate the incident, police Lt. Paul Kwon said. Kwon said police closed the station as a precaution and officers and K-9s searched it for explosives.

Neither officers nor K-9s found anything suspicious.

Police haven’t arrested anyone, but “we are talking to a person of interest,” Kwon said

BART officials said at 4:16 p.m. that the station is open and trains are making all stops in San Francisco.
