RICHMOND (KRON) — A bomb squad was called to a Richmond home on Thursday after a resident found a device with explosive potential while cleaning out his garage, according to Richmond police Lt. Andre Hill.
Police said they got a call at about 11:35 a.m. from a man who said he may have found a smoke bomb in the garage of his home located on the 5800 block of Sutter Avenue.
Responding officers determined the device more than a smoke bomb, that it could possibly be an explosive, so Walnut Creek police’s bomb squad was called as a precaution, Hill said.
No residents had to be evacuated as the bomb squad responded and took the device away from the home.
Hill said the resident claimed he has lived in that home for more than 30 years and was not certain where the device came from.Bay City News contributed to this report
