SOLANO COUNTY (KRON) — Vallejo police said a body was found on Mare Island on Thursday afternoon, police said.
The body was found at around 3:50 p.m. near the parking lot for the Mare Island San Pablo Bay Trail on Dump Road, near Azuar Drive, Lt. Michael Nichelini said.
Nichelini said the body is of a male of unknown age or race and was found in a “couple feet of water” in a “swampy area” just off Dump road. A passerby found the body and reported it to Vallejo police.
Police do not know the cause of death, and the Solano County Coroner’s Office is investigating.
An autopsy will probably happen Friday, Nichelini said.
