SAN JOSE (BCN, KRON) — San Jose police have identified the body found near a creek in the city’s East Side as that of 31-year-old Joaquin Paiz.
The death is being investigated as a homicide, according to Sgt. Enrique Garcia. Officers responded to a report of a body found near a creek Friday in the 1800 block of Pine Hollow Creek around 11 a.m. Friday, Sgt. Garcia said.
Fire crews also responded and pronounced Paiz dead at the scene, Garcia said.
The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office determined the death stemmed from blunt force trauma, according to Garcia.
Police have not identified or arrested anyone in the homicide as of Friday afternoon, Garcia said.
