SANTA ROSA (KRON)—The Sonoma County Department of Health Services found low levels of blue-green algae in certain areas of the Russian River.
The toxin level was enough for health officials to put “caution” signs around the body of water.
The caution warning is the lowest out of the three that can be issued.
Health officials are recommending the public to stay out of the water, especially pets and children.
If you are exposed to blue-green algae, the health department says to rinse yourself thoroughly with clean water.
The water will be monitored until there is no longer this type of algae in the river.
