(KRON/BCN) — Firefighters were able to extinguish a small fire in Berkeley Monday after the ventilation system of a paint booth caught fire.
The blaze was first reported at 11:16 a.m. near the corner of Fifth and Anthony streets, according to fire officials.
The booth, which is used to paint vehicles, was being dismantled inside a building when sparks began flying from its ventilation system, causing it to catch fire, Assistant Fire Chief Abe Roman said.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within about 15 minutes, according to Roman.
The booth did not sustain any structural damage and no injuries were reported. A cause for the blaze is under investigation, Roman said.
