SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A bicyclist was hit and killed on 7th and Howard streets in San Francisco on Wednesday night, according to police officer Carlos Manfredi.
It happened at around 8:30 p.m., police said, when a BMW driving west on Howard street ran a red light.
The suspect car then hit the cyclist, and then spend away, police said. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Farrukh Mushtaq of San Francisco, kept driving west to Howard and Ninth, where he stopped and got out of the car, police said.
The car then rolled and hit an unoccupied car, police said. A witness talked to the driver until police arrived.
Officers caught up with the suspect and arrested him.
The victim is a 26-year-old woman, police said.
Mushtaq was booked into San Francisco County Jail on charges of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
Police said the driver was not on drugs or alcohol.
This was the second fatal hit-and-run to happen in San Francisco Wednesday.
