SALINAS (KRON) — A bicyclist was killed in a collision with a car in Salinas on Thursday afternoon.
A 53-year-old man was on his bicycle heading downhill on Maryal Drive and was stuck by a white Honda minivan at the intersection of East Bernal Drive around 1:30 p.m., according to police.
The man, who suffered from head trauma and a possible broken arm, was transported to Natividad Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police.
The driver, a 38-year-old woman, was traveling west on East Bernal Drive at about 30 to 35 miles per hour. It did not appear she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.Bay City News contributed to this report.
