BERKELEY (KRON) – A fire on a second-floor balcony at an Berkeley apartment complex caused about $25,000 worth of damage Saturday afternoon.
The flames broke out around 4:40 p.m. a few blocks away from Interstate 80 on the 1000 block of University Avenue, according to fire officials.
Some of the exterior of the building was damaged, but firefighters were able to extinguish the flames before it could reach the edge of the balcony just after 5 p.m., said Deputy Fire Chief Donna McCracken.
No injuries were reported, but one person has been displaced by the fire. The resident was not home when the fire was put out, McCracken said.
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
