OXON HILL, Maryland. (WIAT) – Dr. Ben Carson announced he is officially suspending his campaign during his CPAC speech in Maryland.

After Super Tuesday, Carson released a statement saying he sees “no path forward” to the nomination. He then declined to attend Thursday’s GOP debate in Michigan.

Monday, Carson spoke to CBS42 in Montgomery, Ala. during a campaign stop at Auburn University at Montgomery.

He talked to CBS42’s Jamie Ostroff, calling the Republican race a “personality contest” that so far had not been fair to him.

Carson did not attend Thursday night’s debate.
