SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A 2-feet chunk of concrete broke off into one of the eastbound traffic lanes of the Bay Bridge last week, causing minor damage to a vehicle, according to Caltrans spokesman Bob Haus.
An investigation is currently ongoing as to determine the cause, Haus said. Haus could neither confirm nor deny if the cause was water damage.
Haus did say Caltrans is not ruling out any possibilities and that no conclusion will be reached until the investigation ends.
The Bay Bridge tunnel is now 80 years old.
