Authorities are releasing more information about the husband and wife who died in an apparent murder-suicide in Sonoma County Wednesday.

According to the Sonoma County Sheriff, 71-year-old Robert Wade and 72-year-old Maria Wade were found dead in a remote area north of Timber Cove.

The two had been living at the Ocean Grove Campground, their daughter confirmed with police.

The couple’s daughter was the one who first alerted authorities after she received a call from her father saying he had shot her mother.

At the couple’s camper trailer, officers discovered the bodies of both husband and wife, along with their dog, who was also dead.

The couple and dog appeared to have died from apparent gunshot wounds, authorities said.

A handgun was located in the camper and they determined Robert had shot Maria, then their dog before he took his own life.

This isn’t the first time authorities had interacted with the couple.

Authorities had responded to the same location nearly a month ago on February 25 on a report that Maria was suicidal and had held a gun to her head.

She was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

At that time, two handguns were recovered from the home.

Authorities said Maria was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and the couple had extensive medical and financial issues that were getting worse over time.

The couple’s daughter was not in town during her parents’ deaths.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Violent Crime Investigations Unit at 707-565-2185.
