ALAMO, Calif. (KRON) — Two schools were forced to close on Friday as East Bay MUD deals with an ongoing water main break that has been flooding streets in Alamo for hours.
The flooding is impacting Hemme Ave at Danville Blvd.
A preschool called the Creative Learning Center, as well as Rancho Romero Elementary School, are both giving their students an early start to the weekend with flooding impacting access to the schools.
Officials said an 8-inch pipe broke just after midnight. About 182 customers are affected.
The pipe that broke is over 70 years old, according to officials.
Officials say they are having issues locating the valve, which is hidden under the rushing water.
