OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) – The Oakland Police Department is investigating three homicides and nearly a dozen shootings that happened over the weekend.
Police say the first homicide happened around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, August 27 in the 1400 block of 10th Avenue and the second happened around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 29 in the 1900 block of Broadway.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identities at this time.
On Monday, police reported that a third victim was pronounced dead — Around 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, authorities responded to the area of the 5200 block of College Avenue to find an adult male suffering gunshot wounds.
The man from San Leandro was taken to the hospital to be treated. A second victim, identified as an adult man from Richmond, arrived at the hospital a short time later, to be treated for a gunshot wound.
Both victims were listed in critical condition.
The San Leandro man succumbed to his injuries on Monday, according to police. His identity has not yet been released.
This marks the 86th life lost to gun violence this year.

In addition, police say they are investigating nearly a dozen shootings that happened across Oakland this weekend.
This includes a shooting that happened during an early morning sideshow in East Oakland on Monday.
The police department says two arrests were made, two firearms were recovered and four cars were towed.
No other details have been released at this time.
