Those behind the construction of the Salesforce Tower celebrated its grand opening of what is now the tallest building in San Francisco.

On Tuesday, KRON4 got to take a tour of some of the 61 floors inside, including all the way up to the top.

On its grand opening day, the fog at least seems to have embraced the massive addition to the city’s skyline.

It’s 61 stories high and 1.070 feet. The press release claims that’s it’s the tallest office tower west of Chicago, although apparently, there’s another building in Los Angeles that claims the same title.

There’s always a debate about what architectural features count in their height. The building in L.A. has a big spire on the top of it, and if you go to the top of the spire, it’s taller–but it depends on how you count it.

Despite it being the grand opening, the Salesforce Tower is not completely finished.

But the views of the city are breathtaking, even when slightly obscured by the fog. The Transamerica Pyramid is now the second-tallest city in the building. The Salesforce tower tops it by 200 feet.

The Ohana floor will one day be the anchor tenant’s hospitality area, open to its employees and guests.

And it will be free for nonprofits to host meeting and events on evenings and weekends.

The building is expected to be fully finished inside and out by September.
