UPDATE: The Posey Tube leaving Alameda will open at midnight.

Both lanes will be open all day tomorrow and this week.

______________________________________________________

If you use the Posey Tube to get from Alameda to Oakland, you may have to use an alternate route this week.

One lane of the tube was closed Monday morning for crews to repair a sinkhole that appeared after last week’s rain.

At 10:00 a.m., crews shut the second lane as well. This means all lanes of the tunnel are closed. Drivers have no choice but to take alternative routes.

KRON4’s Robin Winston suggests using either of the High St. or Park St. bridges to get into Oakland from Alameda.

If you take an AC Transit bus that uses the tube, plan ahead for delays and detours.

This applies to anyone who uses the following lines:

  • 19 Westboud
  • 20 westbound
  • 51A Westbound
  • 851 Norhtbound
  • 96 Northbound
  • W Westbound
  • O Westbound

The Posey Tube will be closed from 10:00 a.m. to midnight Tuesday.

At midnight, one lane will open. Drivers should expect to be dealing with delays for the rest of the work week.
