Trio wanted in connection to crimes around the Bay Area

Police say a trio of men is wanted in connection with a terrifying home invasion in Piedmont that may be linked to other crimes.

New surveillance video shows the moments before the frightening incident.

Authorities say on Jan. 12 three men broke into a home and threatened a child and his father.

One of the suspects was armed with a gun.

Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan said, “They confronted the nine-year-old who answered the front door and one of the suspects pushed him to the ground.”

Monahan says the boy’s dad overheard the commotion upstairs and confronted the three criminals.

“One suspect displays a firearm and tells the father not to move,” he said.

The other two suspects rummaged through the house and minutes later all three of the men ran out the home.

Police believe the suspects are wanted for other crimes around the Bay Area.

Monahan said, “Am armed carjacking in Berkeley, several burglaries in Oakland, some other theft crimes in Oakland and Hayward.”

Surveillance video in Piedmont helped officers located the vehicle the criminals used to get away, but officers didn’t find anything.

Police remain confident that they will find those responsible for the crimes.
