San Leandro High School was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after threatening graffiti was found on campus, according to the San Leandro Unified School District.
School officials said the graffiti indicated a school shooting would happen.
Administrators say the lockdown is strictly a precautionary move in order to systematically inspect the school grounds.
All students and staff at San Leandro High School are safe.
Students will be released early Wednesday and classes have been canceled for Thursday.
The San Leandro Police Department is on campus working in coordination with district and site administrative staff to insure student and staff safety at the site. Again, this action is solely a precautionary decision to confirm that no threat exist. Once officers clear the campus it is anticipated that the school lockdown will be lifted and parents will be notified.
This recent threat comes one month after the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida where 17 students and staff members lost their lives.
Several schools across the Bay Area are participating in nationwide protests over stricter gun control laws.
