SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Thousands of Bay Area residents are in the dark Tuesday night as rain pummels the region in the first major storm of the season.
More than 7,000 PG&E customers in Oakland are affected by outages along with thousands more in other Bay Area cities.
Power was also out at the Oakland International Airport earlier in the night, causing problems for holiday travelers.
Some Bay Area roads are also closed due to flooding.
As of 9 p.m., PG&E has reported the following number of customers without power:
Oakland — 7,098
San Jose — 1,743
Bay Point — 2,952
San Leandro — 2,483
Santa Rosa — 4,508
San Bruno — 1,246
Richmond — 853
Danville — 1,552
Bodega Bay 1,384
Daly City — 1,216
Hayward — 1,099
Los Altos — 1,058
Dublin — 875
Belmont — 880
Millbrae — 435

In addition to power outages, the rain has also flooded roads in San Francisco, Oakland, Burlingame and Walnut Creek.
The CHP is reporting “severe flooding” on westbound I-580 at High Street in Oakland.
Soutbound El Camino Real at Murchison in Burlingame is also closed because of flooding.
In Pleasant Hill, police say Pleasant Hill Road between Devon Avenue and Paso Nogal Road is closed due to downed power lines.
In San Francisco, southbound I-280 at Ocean Avenue is also flooded, causing closures in the left lanes.
Drivers should expect delays.
There is no estimated time of the road reopening.
