Police say a 14-year-old boy crashed a car into the side of an apartment building in Santa Rosa that injured a teenage girl.
On Friday, police say they responded to a report of a person being pinned between a car and a building at 4040 Hoen Avenue.
Authorities found a red Kia Optima partially inside the wall of an apartment complex with a 16-year-old girl caught between the driver’s side door and the car.
Fire officials freed that girl and she was taken to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Through an investigation, officers learned that the girl’s mom left her and the 14-year-old family friend in the car while she went to visit a friend inside the apartment building.
The car was running and the boy got into the driver’s seat. The girl stood inside the driver’s side doorway to teach the boy about the car.
Authorities say the boy put the car in drive and stepped on the gas resulting in the accident with the girl trapped in the doorway.
Police say drugs and alcohol were not considered to be a factor and the boy was given a complaint citation for driving without a license.
