VALLEJO (KRON) — In Vallejo, there are growing safety concerns for some elementary school students. Parents say a second grader was threatened at school with a gun.

They say their son has been being bullied for months. The alleged threat happened around lunch time.

The parents say the situation was resolved but they are upset because they weren’t notified right away.

“My son was just sent home from school like it was a regular day.”

These parents do not want to show their faces, but they want to share their story.

They say their son was held at gunpoint at school Wednesday by another student.

“I just got a phone call from him today telling me when he got home from school, he was at the bathroom at school when a fellow student pointed a gun to his head and told him to get out or he’ll shoot him,” the parent said.

Their son is a second grader at Patterson Elementary.

They say their son has been receiving threats from the alleged bully.

“He told me that when he left the bathroom, he listened to the kid, the kid told him to leave or I’ll shoot you,” the parent said. “So he walked out of the bathroom and went back to class, he found another teacher at lunch and told him that he had a gun and that teacher walked with him to find it and in fact it was loaded and it was a real gun.”

The school was apparently placed on lockdown, but the mother says she was never notified by the school about the incident.

“I immediately called the school and no one was answering, I called the principals private line, she didn’t answer,” she said.

The Vallejo Unified School District sent out a letter addressing the issue.

The district says they called law enforcement to campus after reports of a weapon on campus.

The student involved was immediately removed from school and will remain off campus while police conduct a thorough investigation.

“They just kept telling me this never really happened at an elementary so they just don’t know what to do and that they felt bad for not calling us but I don’t feel like that’s a good enough response,” the parent said.
