Santa Clara City Councilman Dominic Caserta has announced his resignation Tuesday morning following several sexual harassment allegations.
Nine police reports have been filed against Caserta, alleging sexual harassment and misconduct, according to Lisa M. Gillmor, Mayor of Santa Clara.
Caserta also announced that he will be dropping out of the race for Santa Clara County supervisor.
Among the nine is a 19-year-old woman who says she worked on Caserta’s campaign for supervisor up until last week.
“It proceeded to inappropriate touching, he touched my legs, my thighs, my arms, he started massaging me, and I told him to stop and he didn’t listen to me,” said Lydia Jungkind, who is accusing Caserta of inappropriate touching.
Casterta has denied these allegations saying in a press release that the claims “are false in every sense of the word.”
