SAN PABLO, Calif. (KRON) – It is a shooting that looks like something right out of a Hollywood movie, but it occurred on a busy street right here in the Bay Area.
San Pablo police have released new security footage of a drive-by shooting that happened in July.
The incident occurred on the 3500 block of San Pablo Dam Road on July 1 around 4:42 p.m., when a late-model Honda Crosstour with multiple occupants drove up to a victim’s car and shot the driver.
The suspect’s vehicle was driving in the opposite direction of the victim’s vehicle — In the video, you can see someone sitting in the rear seat of the suspect’s car point a gun out the window and start shooting, striking the driver.
Security footage shows the victim’s vehicle speed off while the suspect’s vehicle turns out of frame.
The victim sustained serious injuries but survived.
The suspect’s vehicle is a dark-colored late model Honda Crosstour, investigators believe.
This is San Pablo’s 8th shooting incident in 2021. There were seven shootings at this time last year.
The city of San Pablo has a vast network of more than 250 surveillance cameras positioned throughout the city.
The cams are monitored by officers back at the station. This shooting was recorded on one of those cameras.
San Pablo police officials say previous images and recordings have been used to solve previous shootings.
However, in this case, police are still trying to positively identify the vehicle used in the shooting, the driver of the vehicle, and the person who pulled the trigger.
