SAN JOSE (KRON) — A 65-year-old woman was arrested Thursday in connection to a deadly hit-and-run crash in San Jose.
San Jose police say the suspect, Delilah Paray, hit a pedestrian who was walking eastbound on Nieman Boulevard, north of Laddie Way.
The crash happened around 5:39 a.m., according to police.
After hitting the victim, the suspect allegedly got out of her car and approached the victim who was lying in the road, still alive, before getting back into her car and leaving the scene.
Police say Paray did not call for help or provide identification before driving away.
Police believe the victim was then hit again by several cars while lying in the roadway.
San Jose police say Thursday’s crash is the 13th fatal collision of 2019 and the 10th car versus pedestrian crash of the year.
Paray has been booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on a felony hit-and-run charge.
The victim has not been identified.
Those with information on the deadly hit-and-run are asked to contact the San Jose Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit at (408) 277-4654.
