Record number of travelers expected at airports before Thanksgiving

A record number of travels will be hitting airports today rushing in to get home before Thanksgiving.

It’s already busy at SFO with tons of people lining up at security and there is a bit of a backup driving into the airport.

Thanksgiving kicks off holiday travel in total 6.7 million travelers are expected at SFO between last Friday and Jan. 1st.

The busiest flying day across the country is projected to be this Sunday while Wednesday is expected to be the second busiest day with nearly three million travelers.

“This is a little lengthy but I expected it,” one traveler said. “I’m an hour early so I’ll be fine. I’m relaxed.”

“I’m not even sure how long the line is,” another traveler said. “I know I’m pretty far back, but I got my headphones so I’ll make it work.”

Experts say the best day to travel is actually Thanksgiving day due to fewer crowds.

We have a storm passing through the Bay Area so it could be a bumpy ride in.

Parking at SFO are filling up quickly, with 100 spots let in long-term surface parking and short-term parking is 60-percent full.

The long-term garage has been officially filled up.
