Union negotiations between New Haven Teachers Association and Unified School District managers continue Sunday morning after a marathon of sessions late in the week.
The New Haven Unified School District covers Union City and South Hayward.
Teachers have been on strike for nearly a week, and they are not backing down from their demand for a pay raise, among other things.
As of Friday, the two sides were not close to an agreement.
Teachers want a 10-percent raise and the district is offering one-percent for next school year.
The district told KRON4 that if the strike goes on until next week, then they will have to get creative in helping students with their finals and grades before graduation.
There are about two weeks left of school.
This is the first time the teachers in the New Haven School District have gone on strike in 50 years.
These negotiations are impacting around 11,000 students at 12 different schools.
Negotiations continue Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
