Crews help bear come down from San Anselmo tree

SAN ANSELMO, Calif. (KRON) – A bear was spotted in a tree in San Anselmo on Thursday, according to Central Marin Police.

Police responded to the area of the 100 block of Tamalpais Avenue.

Around 7:46 p.m., the bear came down from the tree on his own, according to police.

With the help from first responders, the bear ‘moved to the open space areas near Mt. Tam.’

Police are warning residents for the next 24 to 48 hours to secure outdoor trash and to keep pet food inside.

Residents are reminded to keep at least 100 yards from the bear and do not approach it. Call 911.

Bear sightings have become more common across Sonoma County as the bear population grows, however, this is very unusual for Marin.
