MILPITAS (KRON) – Milpitas police investigators returned to a house Saturday afternoon to collect more evidence where just before midnight a man was shot, taken to a hospital and later died.
Around 11:56 p.m. on Friday, police responded to the 100-block of Almaden Avenue following reports of a shooting at a home.
Police arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
First responders performed life-saving efforts and transported him to the hospital.
The man was later pronounced dead.
“Sorry to hear that,” Dan said. “Wish the family all the best.”
Dan lives off Almaden Avenue near the home where police say the shooting happened.
He said he and his family were asleep when police were called to the scene. He also said he did not hear the gunshot.
Through the afternoon, police kept the house taped off and off limits.
“It is kind of weird for this neighborhood,” Dan said. “But, you know, that house has been known to the neighborhood as, you know, a trouble house.”
And, he’s not the only one saying that.
Another neighbor, who wanted to remain private, said there has been previous police activity at the same home.
“There was some police activity about three or four months ago — six months ago, I believe.”
He said a young group of adults rent the home, and sometimes they can get loud — but doesn’t believe they host parties.
Police are not saying what led up to the shooting or whether the victim’s gunshot wound was self-inflicted or not.
“God bless him.”
At this point, police maintain that this is a suspicious death investigation.
They’re not calling it a crime scene and they’re not sharing any possible suspect information.
They are working with the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office to investigate the man’s death.
No other details have been released at this time.
