Police activity shuts down Civic Center BART

SAN FRANCISCO - JULY 05: A commuter looks on as a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train pulls into a station July 5, 2005 in San Francisco, California. With a strike deadline looming at the end of the day, BART management and union representatives are feverishly trying to hammer out a contract that would keep BART trains running and avoid potential gridlock on the roadways as over 300,000 regular BART commuters take to the highways if the system shuts down. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Civic Center BART was closed due to police presence at the station.

Trains did not stop while officers were on scene, but the station opened up again at around 7:00 a.m. and trains are now running in both directions.

KRON4 has reached out for what closed the station but has yet to hear back.

Parallel bus service was provided on MUNI bus #14 between Powell and 16th St Mission.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
