SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KRON) – The search continues for a suspect wanted in connection with the killing of two men in San Francisco.

Police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Robert Newt.

He’s accused of shooting and killing two men and injuring another last weekend.

KRON4 spoke with a niece who says her Uncle Darryl, who was killed Saturday, was like a father to her and she’s struggling to accept that he’s gone.

Meanwhile, police say they need help finding her uncle’s suspected killer, a man who was arrested just last month in connection to another shooting.

61-year-old Darryl Haynes is remembered by his family as a loving and caring man. He was one of two people shot and killed Saturday in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood.

“He would give you the shirt off his back if he could. If you needed it he would do it,” Shawn’te Smith said.

Haynes’ niece Shawn’te Smith says she was not aware of her uncle being in any trouble.

Police say Haynes was shot on the corner of 25th and Connecticut Streets just after 10 a.m.

A little over two hours later a second shooting happened a block away on Dakota Street.

There, two more men were hit by gunfire — A 54-year-old victim died at the hospital.

“We gotta stop this violence against each other. It’s hurtful,” Smith said.

In hopes of catching the suspected shooter, police have released this picture.

San Francisco police confirmed with KRON4 that Newt was arrested in April in connection with another shooting.

At the time of Newt’s arrest, he was found with an untraceable firearm commonly known as a “ghost gun,” but somehow last weekend newt was back out on the street.

San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin at the time of the killings tweeted he was outraged by the shooting deaths.

Haynes’s niece is hoping for some closure soon.

“It hurts, it hurts. Either way. I’m heartbroken,” Smith said.

San Francisco police say Newt is likely armed and extremely dangerous.

He’s known to frequent the Bayview-Hunters Point area of the city.

The third shooting victim has only been identified as a 49-year-old man.

They’re reportedly still in the hospital.
