OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) – Police have surrounded a home in Oakland where they say a man was shooting a rifle from the window Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to the home in the 5700 block of Harmon Avenue just after 5:30 a.m. after people reported gunshots.

Oakland Police Department Tactical Negotiators communicated with the man barricaded inside his home armed with a rifle.

Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services clinical support, OPD Sergeant D. Neff Mental and the Mental Health Unit were on scene providing support and resources to assist on a peaceful resolution and surrender.

OPD worked closley with famliy memebers to gather information to help guide the negotiations.

American Red Cross was also on scene providing resources to neighbors and evacuating them for their safety.

There are no injuries reported at this time, according to police.

No other details were immediately available.
