SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Francisco Mayor London Breed held a summit today and it focused on empowering women from all walks of life.
The event was both a seminar in how to succeed in life as well as a political call to action.
An estimated 1,700 attended the summit to network and learn ways to improve their positions in life and also helping other women succeed.
Organizers of the Beat Invincible Summit say it’s meant to help attendees achieve success no matter what stage of life there in.
There were breakout seminars on finances, health and wellness and career advancement.
Two young women on the verge of launching their careers found the day inspiring.
“I’m hoping to meet people and network because that’s so important,” one of the women said. The event was about channelling the power of women.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi talked to the mayor about what those in the audience could do about the erosion of reproductive rights in several states across the country.
“Know your power,” Pelosi said. “Advocate for this. Outside mobilization will make all the difference in the world and every state.”
One of her mantras: our diversity is our strength and our unity is our power.
