Two right lanes of southbound Highway 101 in South San Francisco are closed Tuesday due to a large hole in the road.

The closure is just south of Grand Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The hole opened up in lane #4 on the elevated overpass, according to Caltrans spokesperson Bob Haus.

Haus says there’s no word yet on what caused the hole to open.

Caltrans is en route to asses the situation.

Drivers should expect delays in the area and use alternative routes.

CHP is advising drivers use I-280.

There is no estimated time for reopening.
