Three incidents of hate speech graffiti were found at a San Ramon high school on Thursday, according to San Ramon Unified School District spokeswoman Elizabeth Graswich said.
They happened at California High School.
The first message targeted the Jewish community. The second was targeted at the African-American community. The third was threatening violence.
School officials notified students, parents, administrators and the community about this incident.
As a precaution, extra police and district administrators were on campus. This did not disrupt classes.
San Ramon police are investigating all three incidents.
Here is the full statement from the school:
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Within the last hour, students and staff found three separate graffiti posts in both a girls and boys restrooms on our campus. One post was anti-semitic, a second was hateful towards African Americans, the third post threatened violence. San Ramon Police are investigating and there is no reason to believe that the post threatening violence is credible. As always, we are taking extra precaution. We have extra law enforcement and administrators on our campus. The graffiti has been removed.
We are proud of our students and staff for doing the right thing and reporting information immediately to adults so that we can take action. It is so important that if you see something, or know something, say something.
The safety of our school continues to be our top priority.
Sincerely,
Sarah Cranford
