OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — The Oakland Fire Department controlled a fire in Oakland Hills by 11:27 a.m. Tuesday.
They responded to a fire at the 6200 block of Crown Ave at Merriewood Dr around 9:30 a.m. Two structures burned and the fire had spread into vegetation, firefighters tweeted.
The fire was largely confined by 10:41 a.m. Upon a preliminary investigation, fire officials believe an overloaded generator started the fire. Thirty firefighters fought the “aggressive fire attack. Eight people are displaced.
The East Bay Hills are under a Red Flag Warning for the next few hours, meaning there is a higher risk of fires spreading due to dry conditions and strong wind gusts.
