PLEASANTON (KRON) — The driver suspected in a hit-and-run crash that left a 13-year-old boy battered and bruised last week is now cooperating with police after hearing about the incident on social media and realizing she was involved.
Pleasanton police say the woman contacted the police department on Monday after coming across a news story online.
The collision happened around 3:14 p.m. on Friday near Harvest Park Middle School. Police say the 8th grader left the curb line at Greenwood Road, north of Valley road when he was hit by a car traveling south on Greenwood Road.
The teen suffered injuries to his mouth and face.
The parents of the teenager spoke to KRON4 on Monday in hopes of finding the driver involved.
“I think we’re very lucky he didn’t get killed or worse,” the father said.
The 13-year-old needed stitches because of his injuries and had his teeth chipped in the crash as well.
Police have not identified the driver allegedly involved — but say she is fully cooperating with the investigation.
