Falling concrete forced the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge to close lanes Friday after as crews worked to fix crumbling infrastructure.
Concrete debris began falling at 12:22 p.m. from upper deck to the lower deck, CHP said.
Several pieces of concrete fell. Most were the size of pebbles but one was as large as a football.
No cars were hit and no injuries were reported.
Two eastbound lanes were shut down as crews worked to repair the roadway.
All lanes were reopened just before 4 p.m.
Earlier this year, the entire bridge was shut down after large pieces of concrete fell onto cars earlier this month after an expansion joint failed.
Repairs are still going on to fix the original problem from February.
Crews plan to repair this second location Friday night.
“The bridge remains safe and open to the public,” Caltrans said in a statement.
