CONTRA COSTA, Calif. (KRON) – A woman was injured in a shooting on Highway 24 Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Around 3:35 p.m., officers received a report that a woman in a silver Chevy Malibu had been shot on the freeway.
It happened on the transition ramp from I-680 southbound to HWY-24 westbound.
The driver had been hit in the leg and needed medical attention.
She told authorities that a woman was driving a Chrysler 300 sedan with a male in the passenger seat when the confrontation occurred.
She said the male passenger fired a gun and the vehicle fled the scene.
The victim told police that her two children in the car were not injured.
She was taken to a hospital to be treated for her non-life threatening leg injury.
The CHP Golden Gate Division continues to investigate at this time.
