The City of Berkeley is changing the way you eat take-out or dine-in at restaurants in an effort to reduce waste.

The new ordinance requires only reusable foodware to be used for dine-in service.

The new law also requires that all take-out foodware must be compostable.

Vendors would have to charge customers 25 cents for every disposable cup.

Additionally, take-out customers would have to ask for straws, napkins, and utensils.

Small grants would be made available to help businesses reach these requirements.

The new law goes into effect in 2020.
