An East Bay man pulled over on a traffic stop gets injured after an Alameda County sheriff’s dog is accidentally let out of its cage and bites him.
The whole incident was caught on camera. Now, the man is speaking up and demanding action.
On Tuesday, KRON4 caught up with Josh Phillips as he was leaving Highland Hospital in Oakland. His wounds started to bleed again.
On Monday morning, when Alameda County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over Josh and his friends for a suspected DUI, Josh says he had been drinking but was not under the influence.
He had just got off work and was following a co-worker home. Before he was able to comply with the deputies request for a field sobriety test, he says a police dog all of a sudden leaped out of the car and started biting him.
Alameda County Sheriffs Department spokesperson Sgt. Ray Kelly says there is now an internal review of the entire incident.
In the meantime, Phillips is on his way home from the hospital.
