The California Highway Patrol is investigating a car crash that killed a 63-year-old man on Monday on Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek.

Around 11:53 a.m., officials received a call about two cars colliding just north of the North Main Street off-ramp.

Authorities arrived to find two cars, a black 1974 Porsche and a black Jeep SUV, had been involved.

A 63-year-old man from San Ramon, who was driving the Porsche, was unresponsive, officials say.

He was taken to John Muir Hospital where he later died of his injuries.

His identity has not yet been released at this time.

The two people in the Jeep had minor injuries and complained of pain, however, they were not transported to the hospital.

A SigAlert was issued to inform drivers that three lanes were closed. Around 2 p.m. officials reopened the roadway.

The CHP says alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the crash.

Authorities are currently investigating and ask that you contact them at (925) 646-4980 if you have any information.
