American Canyon Police Department

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Two Vallejo teenagers were arrested on suspicion of hijacking a car in American Canyon this Tuesday, police say.

American Canyon police spotted a black Ford SUV with two masked passengers.

The car traveled Southbound on Highway 29 towards Napa Junction Road. An officer ran the license plate through the dispatch and learned the car was stolen.

San Francisco Police Department reported the vehicle on Jan. 3 for carjacking and firearm charges.

An officer spotted two people in the car wearing black ski masks.

Police pursued the car after it failed to stop for them.

After the car chase, police stopped the vehicle and the car later crashed into a mailbox.

However, both teenagers fled on foot from the car and jumped fences into residential backyards.

California Highway Patrol air support assisted in locating the subjects, officials said.

Both boys were arrested for felony evading, felony vehicle theft, and a misdemeanor resisting arrest, police say. They were sent to Napa Juvenile Detention Hall.

San Francisco Police Department took over the investigation after the arrests, American Canyon Police say.
