1 killed, 2 injured in shooting at sideshow in San Francisco’s Excelsior District

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — One person died and two are injured from a midnight shooting in San Francisco’s Excelsior District on Labor Day.

The San Francisco Police Department said officers responded to a sideshow and found the three victims closeby, in the area of Mission St and Persia Ave around 12:16 a.m.

“At this time we are unable to confirm the tie between the sideshow and the shooting as this is part of the ongoing and active homicide investigation,” Officer Robert Rueca said in an email.

Just after midnight, shots rang out. One man who didn’t want to show his face describes the chaos.

“Car start doing burnouts, dudes are taking turns coming inside the ring doing their thing and then eventually like five minutes into it you get 20 shots all at once just  Pa-pa-Pa-pa everybody took off,” the man said.

People on a Muni bus were told by their driver to duck as bullets whizzed by.

One male was fatally shot, two others transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

The witness who stopped to watch the display of the sideshow was left shaken.

“Scary you know yeah I’m not gonna lie this is my first sideshow to be this close to a shooting like this it’s pretty scary,” the witness said.

At least one weapon was left on the street as investigators sifted through the evidence.

Police say they were actually on their way to reports of another sideshow a few blocks away at Paris and Russia Streets when they came across the shooting victims.

On Monday, both intersections were left blackened with tire tracks.

Police say there has not yet been an arrest in this case and they don’t have a suspect description to release at this point.

We are still waiting for the medical examiner to release the identity of the man killed.
