SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Bay Area teenager was honored Tuesday at the White house by Michelle Obama herself. 18-year-old Nicole Rivera is one of few students who was recognized for turning their passions into future careers.

For the last three years Nicole has excelled as a member of the “Next Gen” video program at the Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC).

The BAVC is a non-profit organization. Their Next Gen program helps dozens of students like Nicole explore career paths in audio, video, and social media.

She was one of just 12 winners from the National Arts and Humanity Youth Program.

The Bay Area Video Coalition will also benefit from her success. The organization is set to receive a $10,000 donation.
