SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) – Sonoma County authorities continue to search for a 14-year-old boy who fell off an inner tube and disappeared in the water of Lake Sonoma while celebrating the Fourth of July.
The Press Democrat in Santa Rosa reports that Sheriff’s Sgt. Ed Hoener says a patrol boat searched the lake surface for signs of the boy Sunday and divers are on standby for a deep water search Monday and Tuesday.
The Bay Area teen, whose name has not been released, disappeared beneath the surface of the water shortly before 4 p.m. after he fell off an inner tube at a part of the lake authorities say was up to 200 feet deep. He was not wearing a life jacket.
