SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — As the Fourth of July holiday approaches, it was slow going across the Bay Area Thursday.

If you plan on driving over the weekend, you will not be alone. According to AAA, 3.8 million Californians will hit the road this holiday weekend.

That is the highest number of travelers since 2010. And even with gas prices up, that isn’t expected to stop drivers from getting out to their holiday destinations..

Traffic was already backed up on Highway 37 just past the 101 split in Novato. And in Castro Valley, cars were going nowhere fast on Interstate 280.
