ANTIOCH (KRON) — A suspect in a shooting that killed a San Francisco man in 2013 is now behind bars.
22-year-old Carlos Gabrielle Ventura was arrested Thursday, believed to be responsible for the Aug. 24 shooting death of San Francisco resident, 30-year-old Deon Sanders.
According to police, Sanders was shot several times inside a house in the 200 block of Lawton Street in Antioch during the early morning hours of the 24th.
He was taken to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
Antioch police thought that Ventura might flee to Reno, so they called in the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
The Marshal’s office has continuously searched for Ventura since then.
Just before noon Thursday, Antioch police got a call from the U.S. Marshal’s office, saying that Ventura had run off when they stopped a vehicle he was in in the 1000 block of Claudia Couty.
The Marshal’s office was able to track Ventura to the apartment of an acquaintance, where Ventura surrendered without incident.
Ventura was arrested on suspicion of murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and also on a parole hold.
A judge set bail for the new charges at $1.1 million, but no bail is allowed for the parole hold.
The Marshal’s office also arrested 19-year -old Viktoria Martin of Antioch.
She has been charged with suspicion of being and accessory and obstruction of justice.
Her bail has been set at $500,000.
Along with the Antioch murder, San Francisco police were also looking for Ventura.
He was wanted in connection with an April 20, 2013 incident at Golden Gate Park.
That’s where he had been arrested, accused of carrying a loaded handgun and concentrated marijuana while at the 4/20 celebration.
At that time, Ventura was already a convicted felon, making it illegal for him to own a gun.
Ventura was released on $150,000 bail for those charges, but according to San Francisco prosecutors, he skipped his September court appearance.
