SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)– A Bay Area regional director with the California Democratic Party resigned Thursday amid sexual assault claims.

According to the CDP Communications Director, statewide officers received information about Craig Cheslog’s alleged inappropriate behavior.

One incident involving an activist happened back in Nov. 2016, officials said.

Full statement from the CDP here:

Mr. Cheslog has resigned his position as Regional Director this past Thursday. His resignation came after California Democratic Party Chair Eric C. Bauman, and his fellow Statewide officers, initiated proceedings to remove Mr. Cheslog from his position, an action they took after they received allegations of an inappropriate pattern of behavior by Mr. Cheslog, including an accusation of an alleged non-consensual encounter with an activist at a party function in November 2016. The California Democratic Party is committed to ensuring that our party is a safe environment for everyone, and we applaud the brave women who are confronting the pervasive culture of sexism throughout our society.
