Bay Area air quality alert issued due to smoke from wildfires

A Bay Area air quality alert has been issued due to the smoke from the California wildfires, officials said on Thursday.

The alert lasts through Sunday. Officials said fires burning from Northern California to British Colombia will make the Bay Area air unhealthy.

If you smell smoke, residents are asked to avoid going outside. Officials say to stay inside and close your windows and doors.

Smoke can irritate your eyes, cause coughing, and cause a sore throat. Those with asthma are especially susceptible.
